Dubbed a “breakout young artist” by the New York Times, Alecia Chakour is a blues siren. Armed with a gritty, bellowing voice, she wraps her vocal chords around stories of love, heartbreak and struggle with the timelessness of an old soul reincarnate. Alecia coalesces gospel harmonies and an ardent R&B feel to make remarkably honest music that echoes influences such as Mavis Staples and Bonnie Bramlett, but with a voice, perspective and fire all her own.
The daughter of a musician, Alecia grew up in rhythm and blues and has found her home there. The past several years have seen Alecia touring and collaborating with a diverse roster of exciting artists, most recently as a member of the Warren Haynes Band. She is now preparing her first full length album along with her Osrah (“family” in Arabic) of some incredible artists she’s come to love along the way to create a raw sound that has been deftly described as “sultry badass-ness.”
